Edit/Delete Options in DB

Liberty Student Discussion Board Posts

First of all, be sure to review the Discussion Board forumàLecture Notes and the Ask the Instructor thread (for that week) PRIOR to posting your DB assignment in case I have posted help, reminders, or answers to your classmates' questions about the assignment.

Secondly, please remember that you MUST CREATE your work in a WORD document first and then paste the work content into the message window of the Discussion Board forum for the assignment.  However, you CAN ALSO attach your saved version of the assignment into the message window as well so that if there are formatting issues when you submit the initial post, your classmates (and I) can open that attachment to see if you understand how to format properly.

Editing and Deleting

Students have asked questions regarding editing and deleting options in the Discussion Board forum.  In answer to these questions...no, editing and deleting are not available for students in the Discussion Board forum since Liberty wants all work submitted to DB forums to be permanent submissions for posterity and class review.  Therefore, once it is in the forum, it must stay.

As I am sure you can understand, Liberty, as well as your classmates, want you to create your assignments based on your own thoughts, readings, and merits.

If you submit work without following all directions, or if you were able to see other students' posted work prior to posting your own, you would not be showing your ability to follow directions, internalize reading content, and create a logical argument on your own accord.

Therefore, while you cannot edit or delete your initial post, if you have already made a submission to the Discussion Board forum and do not wish for it to count as your initial post (for grading), you can choose from the options on the next few pages.

Click REPLY on your initial post and let the class know to ignore the first post.

You will then…

·        create your work according to the assignment directions,

·        go into the Week 1 DB forum,

·        find your initial post,

·        click REPLY, and

·        post the content that you DO want your classmates to respond to--and for me to review for a score.

Please remember to read all assignment directions prior to development and submission.

All steps in the directions are there to make sure that you receive the highest points possible for your work.

If you are needing to edit or delete your post because the formatting did not transfer when you copied from your WORD document and pasted it into the discussion board window, follow the directions below.

Click REPLY on your initial post and let the class know that the formatting did not show up correctly.

You will then…

·        Make sure that your assignment is saved properly in a WORD document to your computer.

·        Go into the Week 1 DB forum,

·        Find your initial post,

·        Click REPLY, and

·        Write up a quick note to let your classmates know that you are submitting an attachment that shows the correct formatting for your assignment, the citations, and the references section of the work.

·        Attach the correct document to the REPLY post.

·        Submit the message.

Now, your classmates can go into your initial post to see your content, and if they have issues with how something looks visually—such as your sources—they can go into the attachment that you posted to the REPLY message.
